2026 New Zealand Economics Forum

Big Choices for a Small Nation

12–13 February 2026, The Pā, University of Waikato

DaysHoursMinutesSeconds

2026 is a pivotal year for Aotearoa New Zealand. With a general election on the horizon, the choices we make as a nation will shape our trajectory for years to come. The New Zealand Economics Forum returns to tackle the big questions facing our small but evolving economy.

This year’s theme, Big Choices for a Small Nation, brings together leading economists, policymakers, business leaders, and academics to unpack the major decisions confronting New Zealand. From superannuation to AI and productivity, trade to tax, and innovation to inequality, this forum will spotlight the issues where bold, informed choices matter most.

Join us for two days of thought-provoking discussion, debate, and insight. As New Zealand stands at an economic crossroads, this forum offers a space to think critically and collaboratively about where we go next and how we get there.

The full programme is currently being finalised and we will start to announce keynote speakers, panel sessions, and contributors soon.

Last year’s forum sold out, so register today to avoid missing out.
